What happens if we leave dyslexia untreated?

We must allow a child to receive the absolute earliest dyslexia screening. If a parent has dyslexia, a child has a 40–60% chance of inheriting dyslexia. If a child's dyslexia is not detected early enough, the child's self-esteem suffers; also, their social and emotional health will suffer. These statistics of not receiving early intervention are staggering: the school dropout rate is 35%, twice the national average; the rate of suicide among students with learning disabilities is 3 times higher than typical students, and 85% of young people in jail have learning disabilities. Helping millions of children get the earliest diagnosis possible is the best solution and outlook to reduce the statistics above.
